I’m please to report that the first two events - African Sanctus, and Muzsikás - have got the Festival off to a flying, even thrilling start.

Tonight the Škampa Quartet from the Czech Republic, regarded as perhaps the finest from a country of outstanding string quartets, will be following up last night’s dazzling performance with a concert of outstanding Czech masterpieces by Smetana, Martinu, and Dvorak.

My first phone call of the morning was from our Patron Alfred Brendel asking for tickets to Christoph Prégardien’s lieder recital TOMORROW Nov 15. He is traveling from north London to “hear to finest Schubert singer alive”. Join our celebrated Patron to enjoy lieder at its very best.

Sitkovetsky Piano Trio

The outstanding Sitkovetsky Piano Trio will be bringing the first week of our festival ‘inspired by folk’ to a close with contrasting works by Hayden, and Ives, ending with Dvorak’s compelling ’Dumky’ Trio
